for the command line

DocPin for the command line

Publish pages from your terminal and CI.

Reports, test results and docs your scripts generate, live at yourname.docpin.it with one curl. Run it again and the same link shows the new version.

Free for 3 pages. No credit card. Prefer a chat? Publish from Claude or ChatGPT.

Terminal

Why DocPin

Why not push it to a static host?

Static hosts are made for websites. Most generated pages are one report someone needs to read.

No site to set up

No repo, project or DNS per report. One API key, one request, and the page has a readable link.

Private without a proxy

Limit a page to your company's email domain, specific people or a password with one field. Readers sign in with Google or an emailed link.

History built in

Publishing to the same slug keeps the link and adds a version. Restore any earlier one from the app.

Set up once, about a minute

Publish from the command line

All you need is curl and an API key. It works the same on your laptop, in cron and in CI.

Sign in at docpin.app. Your workspace is yourname.docpin.it.

Create an API key

Go to Connections → API keys. The workspace owner creates keys, and each is shown once.

Store it

Save it as DOCPIN_API_KEY in your shell or your CI secrets.

Publish

POST a file, several files or a .zip to /v1/pages. Reuse the slug to update the same page.

https://api.docpin.app/v1/pages

Up to 25 MB and 1,000 files per page. Keys belong to one workspace and stop working if the person who made them leaves it.

The handy bits

Everything is one request

Send these as form fields with your upload. The API docs list the rest, like boards, page data and views.

-F slug=weekly-reportslug

Sets the address. Publishing to it again adds a new version behind the same link.

-F file=@site.zipfile

One .html, several files, or a .zip with index.html at the top or inside one folder.

-F unlisted=trueunlisted

A secret link: only the short link opens it, and it stays off your homepage.

-F board=q4board

Publishes onto a board, which groups related pages on one landing page.

-F 'access={"kind":"password",…}'access

Public, a password, or specific people and companies. Private kinds need Pro.

-H "Content-Type: application/json"html

No file? Send the whole page as JSON: {"html": "…", "slug": "…"}.

Questions

DocPin for the command line, answered

Is there a DocPin CLI to install?

Not yet. curl does everything: one POST to /v1/pages with your file and an API key. Any language that can send a multipart form works the same way.

How do I publish a whole folder?

Zip it so index.html is at the top or inside one folder, then send the .zip as file. You can also send several -F file=@… fields in one request.

Will the link change when I publish again?

No. Publishing to the same slug adds a new version behind the same link, and the response's created field is false. Earlier versions stay in the app.

Who can use API keys?

The workspace owner creates them under Connections → API keys, on every plan. A key acts with its creator's rights in that one workspace and stops working if they leave.

What does it cost?

DocPin is free for 3 pages, with a small DocPin badge. Pro is $8 a month for unlimited pages, your own domain, passwords and people-only pages.

Send your next page on your own link
